Assassin's Creed Odyssey up for digital preorder on Xbox One

Assassin's Creed Odyssey has had a hard time when it comes to leaks. It seems like everything — from its existence to gameplay — is available either on social media or in the archives of an obscure retailer. A few weeks ago, an innocent little keychain leaked the latest installment in the staple franchise. While the publisher confirmed that the game was coming to Xbox One and other platforms, Ubisoft only showed off proper gameplay at its E3 2018 briefing. The game is expected to launch on October 5, 2018 and went up for digital preorder on Xbox One today with Xbox One X enhancements. The game is listed as a "4K Ultra HD" experience so it probably achieves native 4K resolution through dynamic scaling just like Assassin's Creed Origins.

As with almost every Ubisoft project, there are a few versions you can purchase on the Microsoft Store. There's the standard edition for $59.99, the Deluxe Edition for $79.99, the Gold Edition for $99.99 and, for the first time ever, the Ultimate Edition for a whopping $119.99. While the pricing is a little steep, the special versions come with a lot of additional content and early access to the game and certain missions.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey places you in the shoes of a Spartan mercenary out to save your loved ones. The game takes you all over Greece and not only pits you against a corrupt government, but also requires you to fight legendary beasts like Medusa and the Minotaur. Uncovering the secrets of the world is at the heart of the game.

The title features vibrant colors and a lot of new mechanics. For example, players will immediately notice that you now have dialogue options. Apart from that, naval warfare, taking out outposts, and using your eagle to scout locations are also back. Hopefully Assassin's Creed Odyssey will be a polished experience when it launches in a few months.
