Ashen runs at native 4K resolution on Xbox One X

Ashen is a dark role-playing game which was announced as a Microsoft exclusive many years ago. It stood out from the crowd because of its unique art style and haunting atmospherics. Since then, the project basically went dark, and fans of that early trailer have been wondering what form it would eventually take. It's unclear if it's an exclusive anymore, but we do know it's only coming to Microsoft's platforms as of now.

Ever since the Xbox One X was revealed, many fans are always interested in what resolution and frame rate popular games run at on the system. As expected, Ashen is at the top of many lists. Luckily, an interview between GamingBolt and Aurora44's Derek Bradley — Ashen's creative director — provided some answers. According to the outlet, Bradley said that the game runs at native 4K resolution on Xbox One X, but other aspects of the title haven't been fixed yet.

Ashen on Xbox One X runs at native 4K.... However, we don't have final numbers for this just yet as we continue to optimize... We haven't locked these numbers down just yet... It is great fun to play Ashen at 4K on the Xbox One X. I would highly recommend it.

It's great to see Aurora44 push technical boundaries on Xbox One X. Hopefully the title will feature 60 FPS gameplay on the console because the frame rate is much more important than resolution. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more. Ashen is expected to launch sometime this year.
