GeForce GTX 1650 now official for just $149, GTX 1660 Ti comes to laptops

NVIDIA has unveiled the GeForce GTX 1650, with the card now on sale from AIB partners for just $149. NVIDIA also launched the GeForce GTX 1650 and 1660 Ti for laptops, with over 80 models powered by cards making their debut.

The GTX 1650 is now the most affordable Turing-based card in the market, and follows the introduction of the GTX 1660 and 1660 Ti. There's a lot to be excited about: NVIDIA is promising a 2x boost in performance from the GTX 950, and a 1.7x increase from the GTX 1050. If you have a mini-ATX chassis built around the GTX 950 or 1050, the 1650 will slot in without having to make any modifications.

NVIDIA says you'll see a better uptick in performance from more recent titles like Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. As for the GPU itself, the GTX 1650 has 896 CUDA cores and 4GB of GDDR5 memory on a 128-bit memory interface, pretty much spot-on with last week's leak. TDP is at 75W — negating the need for a power supply — and it has a boost clock of 1665MHz.

The GTX 1650 is going on sale today, with cards from ASUS, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac available right now. Prices start off at $149, but you'll have to shell out more for overclocked versions.

Coming to the GTX 1660 Ti, NVIDIA is touting a 4x increase in performance from the GTX 960M, and 1.6x from the GTX 1060. Crucially, you'll be able to play PUBG, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Overwatch at 1080p at 100fps with settings dialed up to high. For GTX 1650-based laptops, NVIDIA is touting 60fps for the aforementioned games at 1080p.

Laptops featuring the GTX 16 series cards will start off from as low as $799, and they're going on sale starting today. Brands like Acer, ASUS, Dell / Alienware, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo and MSI have already rolled out models that feature the new GPUs, and Samsung is set to join the fray in a few months.

NVIDIA is also rolling out a Fortnite bundle wherein anyone picking up the GTX 1650 or a laptop with the GTX 1660 Ti or 1650 will get 2,000 V-Bucks along with in-game items. The promotion is live now and runs through May 22.
