Physics-based biking game 'Descenders' to join Xbox Game Preview soon

Descenders, an extreme downhill free-riding game from developer RageSquid, is now available on Steam Early Access, but it's also coming exclusively to Xbox Game Preview soon. Descenders is expected to hit Xbox One in the coming months.

According to the studio, the title throws players into the world of mountain biking, where every jump, whip and scrub earns you reputation points. The catch it that you might lose it all with just one poorly-timed landing. Think of it as a stricter version of the infamous Trials series.

The developer also says that Descenders features a complex physics system and full controller support which allows players to string together many tricks. You have to make your way down a slope and attempt to reach the bottom with as few scratches as possible. However, unlike the Trials franchise, Descenders features procedurally-generated maps. This means that no two runs are ever the same. Instead of simply practicing on the same map, the game forces you to rely on your reflexes and quick thinking.

Unlike other games, Descenders contains no upgrades or power-ups. Players can only progress through skill alone. This might be an issue for many gamers because it limits the title's appeal to a casual crowd. However, RageSquid claims that it has extensive post-launch plans which will add new tweaks, bikes, kits, modes and worlds. Hopefully one of these additions will enhance its appeal to a wider audience.
