LG details two new gram laptops heading to CES 2019

Tech fans will soon be gushing over the first hot new products of 2019 when the annual CES extravaganza kicks off in Las Vegas in early January, but LG isn't waiting that long to tell us about its new laptops.

The Korean manufacturer is taking a pair of new gram laptops to CES 2019, a 17-inch model and a 2-in-1 with digital pen support.

17-inch laptops aren't particularly common, but with the gram 17, LG is squeezing that massive display into the body of a 15-inch laptop. That means you get the benefit of a larger display without having to carry around a gigantic laptop. LG says it only weighs 1.3kg as well, making it the world's lightest 17-inch laptop. The display is 2560 x 1600 IPS, non-touch and has 96% sRGB support.

Inside you'll find an 8th Gen Intel processor, 16GB of RAM, space for two SSDs, a 75W battery and Thunderbolt 3. The gram 17 is also MIL-STD-810G spec so despite being thin and light, it's also tough.

The gram 2-in-1 is a 14-inch convertible laptop with a full 360-degree hinge and support for a digital pen. Spec wise it's very similar to the gram 17, with 8th Gen Intel processors, 16GB of RAM and a 72W battery. Display resolution is knocked down to 1080p and it's covered in Gorilla Glass 5.

Both of these laptops also have a fingerprint scanner for Windows Hello, and neither comes with dedicated graphics. Nevertheless, LG's previous gram laptops have been pretty impressive, so we're excited to get a closer look at them when CES rolls around.
