Forza Motorsport 6 will be removed from sale on September 15, still playable for existing owners

What you need to know

  • Forza Motorsport 6 is a stellar racing game from Turn 10 Studios.
  • The game is going to be delisted in September due to expired licenses.
  • Existing owners will still be able to play it after that date.
  • You can grab Forza Motorsport 6 for free with Xbox Live Gold at the moment.

Forza Motorsport 6 is a popular racing simulator and is considered to be the best entry in the series. The game got stellar reviews when it launched as well as excellent post-launch support. However, as is the case with many racing games, their music licenses expire and they have to be removed from sale digitally. That's about to happen to Forza Motorsport 6. Recently, Turn 10 Studios posted the following message on its website.

Forza Motorsport 6 will enter 'End of Life' status on September 15. This means that the game and its associated add-on content including car packs and expansions will no longer be available for purchase. Players who own Forza Motorsport 6 before that date will still be able to download and play the game and its associated add-on content as normal, but the game and add-on content will no longer be available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

If you want to play Forza Motorsport 6 after September 15, you can still pick up a copy on Amazon for $23. However, I think that you should play Forza Horizon 4 instead because it also features a 60 frames per second option and is part of Xbox Game Pass.
