Microsoft has updated its Surface Update History tracker with the release notes for the latest firmware updates for the Surface Pro 4 (via Neowin). Curiously, the release notes are dated September 14, but were only added to the page today.
All of the changes in these updates refer to support for the Surface Pro Type Cover in some capacity. Here's a look at what's new:
- Surface Fingerprint Sensor – Biometric device - 2.2.11.0 Enables support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
- Surface PTP Filter - HID - 1.0.173.1 Enables support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
- Surface Pro Type Cover Integration - HID - 1.0.2.0 Enables support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
- Surface Smart Cover Backlight – System device - 3.0.0.0 Enables support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
If the updates did indeed begin rolling out on September 14, your Surface Pro 4 has likely already installed them. However, you can also check manually via Windows Update now to grab the latest firmware for your machine.
