Updated April 3, 2019: Gearbox has removed the "cross-platform co-op" listing from the Borderlands 3 page on the Microsoft Store. According to the developer, its still exploring cross-play at the moment, and there are no concrete plans. However, since only Gearbox can add features to a game's listing on the Microsoft Store, the error wasn't on the part of the console manufacturer. It's unclear if cross-play will make its way to Borderlands 3, but given the fact that even the person filling out the listing thought so, the chances seem quiet high.

The day many of you have been waiting for is finally here, Borderlands 3 is launching on Xbox One and other platforms on September 13. Yes, this year! Many expected the title to be available in 2020 or 2021, but that's not the case at all. What's even better is that the game features phenomenal Xbox One X support and allows cross-play between different platforms. It even runs at 4K resolution on the system, but it's unclear if it renders at 60 frames per second during gameplay.

According to the listing on the Microsoft Store, Borderlands 3 also features "cross-plaform co-op" between Xbox One and PC. Hopefully this isn't an error and the title actually features cross-play. However, only time will tell. We've reached out to Gearbox Software to confirm this feature, and to inquire whether PlayStation 4 will be part of this. Keep in mind that this may just be a mistake.

According to the team, the original shooter-looter returns, packing "bazillions" of guns and an all-new mayhem-fueled adventure. Blast through new worlds and enemies as one of four brand new Vault Hunters, each with deep skill trees, abilities, and customization. Your goal is to stop the fanatical Calypso Twins from uniting the bandit clans and claiming the galaxy's ultimate power. During the course of the adventure, you'll discover new worlds beyond Pandora, each featuring unique environments.

Are you interested in Borderlands 3? What do you think about the cross-play support? Let us know. Cross-play definitely seems like the future of the industry, and should be even more common once next-generation machines land in 2020.
