What you need to know

  • Blizzard has released the Blizzard Arcade Collection today.
  • The collection features three games originally released in the '90s.
  • Anyone who purchased the Celebration Collection will get the games free.

Blizzard Entertainment might be best known for World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Hearthstone, but the company began making games in the early '90s for the NES and MS-DOS. Now players can experience its earliest titles with plenty of quality of life upgrades through the Blizzard Arcade Collection, which was released today on PC.

The collection includes Blackthorne, a platformer originally released for SNES and MS-DOS in 1994, the Amiga and NES puzzle platformer The Lost Vikings, and the combat-based racing game Rock n' Roll Racing, which was originally released for SNES and the Sega Genesis. The release was the first thing announced during the opening ceremony at BlizzConline.

Everyone who purchased the 30th anniversary Celebration Collection will get the three games for free today. You can play the original version but also take advantage of new features like a Watch mode that allows you to view your playthrough.

Keep checking back here throughout the weekend for more BlizzConline coverage.
