Borderlands 3 officially announced with bombastic trailer

Updated March 28, 2019: Borderlands 3 was officially unveiled today. The game takes place in multiple worlds and features an even more diverse cast of characters. A lot of familiar faces make an appearance. You can take a look at the trailer below. No release date or other information was provided.

Today, Comicbook.com noticed that Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford was discussing how everything in his life revolved around "three" at the moment. Pitchford said, "My To Do list today has just three things on it. But I also have three meetings scheduled before 3 PM. Is the universe telling me something?" He later when on to say, "Yesterday was 333. It's really interesting how human minds take so much meaning in arbitrary numbering systems and coincidence."

While this might not mean anything, Pitchford ended his thought process by he felt like it was "E3 all over again." Since The Game Awards 2018 take place next week, this is probably the strongest indication that the studio will be announcing Borderlands 3. We know that it's in development, but we haven't been given a lot of information aside from a few concept art screenshots.

Unless this is some elaborate tease, it seems like Borderlands 3 may be officially unveiled at The Game Awards 2018. However, we've been hearing about the game for years now, so this might be another red herring. We'll find out in a few days.

If you want to get your Borderlands fix before Borderlands 3 hits, then check out Borderlands: The Handsome Collection which includes Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. It's going for roughly $30 on Amazon right now.
