May's free Xbox Games with Gold feature Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Vanquish

Today, Microsoft accidentally announced May's free Games with Gold for Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners early. It appears that an unlisted video on the company's YouTube channel was shared before its official reveal. Starting on May 1, 2018, Super Mega Baseball 2 and Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage will be free with the subscription. Then, on May 16, Xbox Live Gold members can download Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Vanquish at no cost. Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage and Vanquish are backward compatible so you can also play them on your Xbox One or Xbox One X.

Play together with Xbox Live Gold. May's 2018 Games with Gold lineup for Xbox One includes Super Mega Baseball 2 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. For Xbox 360 owners, and through Xbox One backward compatibility, May kicks off with Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage, followed by Vanquish. May's lineup provides over $79 dollars in value and up to 3,400 in Gamerscore.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Set nine years after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and the fall of Mother Base, Snake or Big Boss awakens from a nine year coma. The year is 1984. The Cold War serves as the backdrop as nuclear weapons continue to shape a global crisis. Driven by revenge, Snake establishes a new private army and returns to the battlefield in pursuit of the shadow group called "XOF". Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain explores mature themes like the psychology of warfare and the atrocities that result from those that engage in its vicious cycle.

Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage

Streets of Rage is getting a remaster soon but if you don't want to wait that long you can always play Sega's classics. Players join Axel, Blaze, and others as they battle the evil Mr. X across all three Streets of Rage games. The titles were originally released for the Sega Genesis, but a few years ago the classic brawler series was updated for Xbox Live Arcade.

Super Mega Baseball 2

Super Mega Baseball is back and promises better gameplay. Players can customize their squad, step up to the plate, and knock the ball of the park. The developer claims that Super Mega Baseball 2 is a streamlined baseball simulator that will keep you coming back for more.

Vanquish

Vanquish was created by PlatinumGames, the studio behind Bayonetta. The game is a shooter of epic proportions with a fast, fluid and frenetic combat system. The title offers unique offensive and defensive moves, and kinetic melee combat. Vanquish is regarded by many as a cult classic nowadays.

Be sure to download all four of these games next month because many of them are great experiences. Out of all of these, we would recommend that you play Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain because it's an incredible title despite its slight narrative issues.
