Is Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme available with a touchscreen?

Best answer: Lenovo does not yet offer a touchscreen with the second-generation Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme. A 4K touch-enabled display option is on the way but isn't currently available when configuring the notebook. If you want a touchscreen, you can check out the ThinkPad X1 Carbon.Lenovo laptop with touch: ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Gen 7) (from $2,149 at Lenovo)Touch coming soon: ThinkPad X1 Extreme (Gen 2) (from $2,459 at Lenovo)

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme doesn't come with touch ... yet

If you were looking forward to not only using the keyboard and touchpad but also the display as a form of input on the Thinkpad X1 Extreme, you'll be disappointed. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme doesn't come equipped with a touch-enabled display, at least yet. All current display options (both the 1080 and 4K panels) are non-touch.

Lenovo does note on the official website that a touch-enabled 4K display is planned, but it's not yet available in the online configurator. It's a shame since the laptop is capable of numerous scenarios, some of which could be enhanced with a touch display, allowing you to activate controls through gestures registered by the display itself — just like with a smartphone or tablet.

No timeframe has been shared as to when we can expect to see this addition to the Thinkpad X1 Extreme spec sheet. If you're set on the ThinkPad X1 Extreme and don't mind holding off purchasing a notebook, I'd recommend you wait until Lenovo adds the touch-enabled 4K display option in the company's online configurator.

ThinkPad X1 Carbon has a display you can play with

The Carbon, Lenovo's more portable premium laptop from the same ThinkPad X1 family, comes rocking a 1080p touch-enabled display with some handy optional features like LTE connectivity. Should you be on the lookout for a notebook from Lenovo and need to have it delivered soon, it may be best to configure the Carbon (or other laptop with touch displays) to your liking and place the order.
