Diablo-like 'Warhammer: Chaosbane' goes up for preorder on Xbox, hands-on preview

Warhammer: Chaosbane is an upcoming Diablo-like role playing game from Bigben Interactive and Eko Software. You can preorder the game at your favorite retailer, starting at $60. Warhammer: Chaosbane is scheduled to release on June 4, so the wait won't be too long. If you're unsure about the game, the developers will offer two beta phases starting in March. Unfortunately, these will be accessible only to the players who have preordered the game. However, if you dislike the experience, you can always cancel the preorder.

The first beta takes place in March and the second in April. According to the companies, "players will have an exclusive opportunity to discover the beginning of the campaign and test the different classes and their synergy in cooperative mode." We recently were able to play the beta and discovered that it's quite a stellar game. It's exactly like Diablo, but the voice acting is very good and the story is compelling as it seems to take place during an all-out war. Surprisingly, there are a lot of twists and turns during the campaign.

Warhammer: Chaosbane is the first hack-and-slash to take place in the Warhammer Universe. The game plunges the player into the heart of the "Old World," a continent marked by the "Great War Against Chaos," a bloody conflict which ravaged the "Empire of Men." You can play as a human, a high elf, a wood elf, or a dwarf, and discover iconic locations along the way. The beta allows you to play as all of these classes. The test also supports Xbox One X, but aside from offering 60 frames per second gameplay, it's unclear what the other advantages are. Right now it's quite blurry on the system, and the resolution need to be upgraded to at least 1440p or 1800p to look clear on a 4K display.

We spend a few days playing the closed beta in March and discovered that the game is much more intense than what we expected. Whenever you're playing an isometric title, you don't get the sense that there is a larger conflict going on around you. Warhammer: Chaosbane doesn't falter in this regard and even from the get-go you know that the entire world is in peril.

There are a few different editions to choose from, but if you preorder the "Magnus" or Deluxe editions you can play it a few days early. Warhammer: Chaosbane looks absolutely incredible from what we've seen, and hopefully you'll like it as well when it launches.

Are you interested in Warhammer: Chaosbane? Let us know. Did you get a chance to participate in the beta?
