Original Xbox Backward Compatibility is still coming to Xbox One in 2017 says Phil Spencer

The announcement garnered tremendous praise from the audience and the larger gaming community. Since then we haven't heard much about an expected release date, but we do know that it's still coming in 2017. At the Brazil Game Show, GameSpot caught up with Microsoft's head of gaming Phil Spencer who discussed its timeline. During the interview he said:

We're close, we're really close... I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games, where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline. I know the games that are coming for the original Xbox but I don't think we've announced them all. We have to do this in partnership with partners, but we're still on track. I feel really good. The games look great.

Crimson Skies will be among the first titles to hit OG Xbox backwards compatibility.

GameStop asked Spencer again whether original Xbox Backward Compatibility would be out in 2017 and he confirmed that it would. This is definitely great news for those wishing to play favorites like Crimson Skies and Fusion Frenzy this year. Hopefully we'll have a concrete launch date for the feature soon because it's already October and 2017 is coming to a close.
