Usually, Microsoft announces new Xbox Game Pass titles well before they're scheduled to join the service. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time, and it left many Xbox One owners speculating. Then, last night, Hitman and Ryse: Son of Rome offered an Xbox Game Pass discount, but they weren't available for free to subscribers.
Luckily, Larry Hryb, Xbox Live's Director of Programming, just confirmed that seven new games are coming to Xbox Game Pass in August. Starting today, subscribers can play the following titles at no additional cost other than their $9.99 monthly subscription.
- Hitman
- Ryse: Son of Rome
- Ruiner
- Dead Rising 2
- The Escapists: The Walking Dead
- Dandara
- Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure
Hitman is a reboot of the franchise and instead of focusing on a convoluted plot and limited environments, it opens up the game. You have to explore massive maps and take out enemies in a variety of ways. Additional challenges keep you coming back for more.
Ryse: Son of Rome is an Xbox One launch title which wasn't the most well-received game out there. Despite its short length, the game tells a satisfying story of revenge and is still one of the best-looking titles on the system.
Ruiner is a cyberpunk top-down action game which requires you to stop a deadly conspiracy. The game has greatly improved since launch, and is a lot of fun to play especially if you like using melee weapons.
Other than that, we all know Dead Rising 2 tasks you with killing endless zombie hordes, while The Escapists: The Walking Dead is similar, but you have to escape the undead in pixelated visuals. Dandara is a metroidvania platformer and Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure is the remastered version of the popular Xbox 360 platformer.
Be sure to check out Xbox Game Pass if you want a Netflix-style subscription for games. Unlike competing products, the titles download to your system so there's no streaming involved. Consumers don't have to worry about image quality of lag.
