What you need to know

  • Microsoft launched the "Gears 5 New Tab" extension for Microsoft Edge.
  • The extensions decks out your new tab pages in Gears 5 art and flair.
  • It's available now from Microsoft's extensions page.

Gears 5 fans can now show their stripes in Microsoft Edge with a new extension released by Microsoft. Initially spotted by Aggiornamenti Lumia, the Gears 5 New Tab extension turns all of your newly opened tabs into a Gears 5 shrine with art, links and more. There's even a more general Xbox Game Pass theme for fans of the service.

The biggest draw of the extension is that it adds a selection of Gears 5 background images to every new tab. There are four in total for Gears 5 specifically, but you can also switch to an Xbox Game Pass theme at any point for a fifth option. The extension also adds quick links to Gears 5 and Xbox social media accounts, along with direct links to Gears 5 live streams on Mixer and Twitch.

Here's a look at the features from the extension's store page:

  • The top Gears 5 live streams from Mixer and Twitch
  • Easy access to news, images, and wallpapers on our official site
  • Exclusive HD images from Gears 5 on your new tab
  • Quick links to Gears 5 content on Twitter, YouTube, and more

If this looks like it's up your alley, you can pick up the Gears 5 New Tab extension now directly from Microsoft for free. If you haven't tried Gears 5 yet, the game is also now available for PC and Xbox One, either as a standalone purchase or included with Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.
