At Computex 2018, AMD gave us a first look at the upcoming 7nm Radeon Vega architecture. The first card to be based on the platform will be the Radeon Instinct, a deep-learning GPU aimed at the data center and compute market.
AMD is touting a performance uptick of 35% as well as double the energy efficiency with the shift to the 7nm node. The Instinct features 32GB of HBM2 and relies on AMD's Infinity Fabric to chain GPUs together.
AMD is also launching an open source ecosystem to drive innovation in machine learning and AI use cases. The Radeon Instinct is sampling to initial customers and will be available in server and workstation variants in the latter half of 2018.
AMD also revealed that a 7nm Vega gaming-focused GPU will make its debut as well, but didn't share a timeline as to when the product will hit retail availability.
