Rise of the Tomb Raider joins Xbox Game Pass next month

Rise of the Tomb Raider should be joining Xbox Game Pass in March 2018. Today, Larry Hryb, Xbox Live's Director of Programming, announced that March's Xbox Game Pass additions would be revealed next week. However, he teased one of the games early. Hryb's Twitter post identifies the first title as Square Enix's Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Usually new Xbox Game Pass titles are available for download at the beginning of each month and Rise of the Tomb Raider shouldn't be any different. Membership costs $9.99 each month so be sure to check it out if you want a Netflix-style subscription for games on Xbox One.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the sequel to 2013's Tomb Raider reboot. It follows Lara Croft as she tries to uncover the secret to immortality. However, her pursuit pits her against a shadowy organization obsessed with the supernatural. The Tomb Raider franchise couldn't compete with the likes of Uncharted before Square Enix decided to start from scratch with a darker theme. Hopefully the staples of great third-person gameplay and storytelling will continue with future installments.

In our review of Rise of the Tomb Raider, we said that "the game is well-written and doesn't issue many blunders this time around. Additionally, the motion capture makes an already great story even better. As for the gameplay, it received some well-deserved additions as well as some revamps that everyone will find pleasing." Be sure to play the game if you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber and haven't done so already.
