Guacamelee! 2 joins Xbox Play Anywhere soon, preorder here

Guacamelee! is an incredibly popular game on Xbox One due to its bright visuals, stellar gameplay, and Mexican wrestling-themed world. Unfortunately, the sequel, Guacamelee! 2, was only available on PlayStation 4 and other platforms last year. Luckily, developer Drinkbox Studios just announced that the title should launch on Xbox One — with Xbox One X support — on January 18, 2019. The game runs at 4K resolution on Microsoft's upgraded console, and looks absolutely stunning.

The description is as colorful as the game itself. It seems like Juan Aguacate is back and the plot is crazier than ever. You can read the official synopsis below which even references the "Chicken Illuminati."

Brawling has never been more beautiful! The long-awaited sequel to the smash hit action-platformer is here. Guacamelee! 2 brings luchador Juan Aguacate out of retirement for a stunning new Metroidvania-style adventure, where he must face his greatest challenge yet — one that threatens to tear apart the very fabric of the Mexiverse! Explore a huge, hand-crafted world inspired by Mexican culture and folklore, filled with sassy new villains and weirdos, and a few old friends! Learn a deep repertoire of bone-crunching wrestling moves to fend off the skeletal hordes and overcome skillful platforming challenges... and who said anything about a Chicken Illuminati? Certainly not us!

Guacamelee! 2 will cost $19.99 at launch, but those who preorder can purchase it for $15.99 for the next two weeks. It's unclear if there will be another discount after launch. Guacamelee! 2 garnered strong reviews when it launched in August 2018, and currently sits at 83 on Metacritic.
