New firmware updates rolling out to Surface Book and Surface Pro

Both the original Surface Book and the new Surface Pro are getting some fresh firmware updates today. These are the first set of Surface updates to roll out since January's Spectre and Meltdown fixes, and while none of the updates are quite as major, they do brings system stability improvements.

Here's a look at what's new for Surface Book:

  • Surface Embedded Controller Firmware - Firmware - 90.2098.256.0 improves system stability.
  • Surface Integration – System device - 1.1.339.1 improves battery stability.

As for the Surface Pro, the Microsoft is actually rolling out two updates, each of which brings the same set of stability fixes, but varies in version number based on whether you're using the standard Surface Pro or Surface Pro with LTE Advanced. Here's what's new:

  • Surface Pro LTE Advanced (Model 1807): Surface System Aggregator Firmware – Firmware - 233.2102.1.0 improves system stability.
  • Surface Pro (Model 1796): Surface System Aggregator Firmware – Firmware - 233.2099.256.0 improves system stability.

If you own the Surface Book or Surface Pro, these updates should be rolling out or available now via Windows Update.
