The Surge 2 is an upcoming third-person action game along the lines of Dark Souls. However, instead of a fantasy setting, it takes place in industrial corridors and ruined cities. The Surge 2 is almost here as it launches on September 24, but that hasn't stopped publisher Focus Home Interactive from revealing more information about the game.

Today, the team unveiled a new trailer that goes properly post-apocalyptic. It seems like the story takes place sometime after The Surge because there are nano-cultists and other bizarre characters running amok in Jericho City. All the while, Athena, a woman with whom you have a special connection, leads you through the streets to a destination unknown.

According to the team, this mystery accompanies gameplay that refines and enhances The Surge's formula, bringing new weapons, new gadgets, enhanced ranged combat, additional implants, and much more to the sequel. Dismemberment and limb-targeting still form the backbone of how you fight, loot, and choose your loadout. However, there are so many more options this time around.

You can purchase The Surge for $60 through Amazon or the Microsoft Store. There will be expansions, but they'll cost separate because there doesn't appear to be a purchasable season pass at the moment. Luckily, the game is Xbox One X Enhanced and should feature a 60 frames per second mode on the console.
