Overlord and Overlord II join Xbox backward compatibility

Today, Larry Hryb, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, announced that Xbox 360 games Overlord and Overlord II are now backward compatible on Xbox One. Both games aren't the heavy-hitters fans were hoping for, but they're still a lot of fun.

Backward compatibility opens Xbox One to a huge variety of games, spanning three generations of Microsoft's consoles. Despite hardware differences, it remains an outstanding feature, allowing a select library of older games to be played on Xbox One. While the majority of them are Xbox 360 titles, there are also some original Xbox games in there.

Overlord

Overlord is a groundbreaking action game set in a warped world. Controlling a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil, long-dead Overlord, players determine if they will rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord. The game is all about discovering how evil you can truly become.

Overlord II

Overlord II is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed cult classic. The game sees the return of the chaotic Minions and their new Dark Master. The title is bigger, badder and more beautifully-destructive than ever. According to the developer, Overlord II has a "Glorious Empire" to smash, a massive "Netherworld" to revive, Minion mounts to mobilize, a trio of mistresses to woo, "War Machines" to crush, and lots of cute creatures to murder.

Be sure to check out these games on Xbox One if you're looking for a break between new experiences like The Crew 2. Even to this day Overlord and Overlord II remain quite enjoyable.
