Ubisoft's VR-exclusive AGOS: A Game of Space released on SteamVR and the Oculus Store today. The game is set in 2057, when mankind has fled a doomed Earth onboard hundreds of ships, using AI to guide them to a distant habitable planet where they can rebuild. Players are tasked with saving humanity by exploring various star systems, building and piloting probes, gathering resources, and developing new technologies.

As you build probes, you'll unlock new parts you can use to upgrade your ship, fortifying it against the dangers of space. You can also add things like boring heads and a particle harvester that make it easier to gather rare resources. You'll travel through eight star systems, exploring abandoned space stations, completing quests, and trading with other ships. Unlike most science fiction games, there isn't any alien menace to defeat in AGOS so you're largely on your own to explore and enjoy the view.

The game is compatible with the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or Window Mixed Reality headsets, which will provide a view from the cockpit as you use your controllers to pilot and customize your ships. A motion-sickness free system promises to extend playtimes.
