Borderlands: The Handsome Collection requires separate 4K texture packs on Xbox One X

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is an amazing package which runs at 1080p 60 frames per second (FPS) on the base Xbox One. It contains the critically-acclaimed Borderlands 2 and the not-so-critically-acclaimed Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. While the games originally launched on the Xbox 360, this updated version is a blast to play because the shooting feels smooth and precise.

Today, Gearbox Software released a 4K patch for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on Xbox One X. Unfortunately, you have to download add-ons which total roughly 15 GB. This is the first time we've come across a game which doesn't automatically update the textures, but requires the user to manually download the assets.

Once the patch hits, the game is expected to run at 4K 60 FPS on Microsoft's latest console. Hopefully the performance will hold up because revisiting Borderlands 2 will be an amazing experience on a 4K display. While the current 1080p picture looks great, it's still blurry if you have a 4K device because it's being upscaled.
