A recent deal between Tyler "Ninja" Blevins and Microsoft saw the hit Fortnite streamer break away from Twitch, adopting its Mixer live-streaming platform. From hosting Drake and Travis Scott on his broadcasts to being crowned among TIME's most influential people of 2019, he's rapidly become a top personality in gaming.

Blevins hosted his first Mixer live stream on August 2 live from Chicago-based music festival Lollapalooza, just one day after the Microsoft partnership. The move has already drawn fans from the Amazon-owned rival, celebrating over half a million followers on Mixer in just over 24 hours. Although his prior 14.7 million Twitch following dwarfs the figure, it already puts Ninja as Mixer's second-biggest creator, only surpassed by "TheGrefg" at 800,000.

Ninja took to Twitter to highlight the milestone from the festival.

The shift has already shown signs of success for Microsoft, with Mixer recently topping Apple's free apps chart via the App Store. Ninja has now surpassed 600,000 followers as of publication, nearing four million viewers over his weekend stream. Mixer is also granting free premium Subscriptions to Ninja until September 30 for exclusive benefits, although the percentage of followers leveraging this offer is unclear.

Microsoft's heightened investments signal a significant push against Amazon's live-streaming efforts, pulling its biggest creator and fanbase. As outlined by our Xbox Senior Editor, Jez Corden, it helps further elevate Mixer's leverage as a platform, with several streamers already following suit.
