Two optional updates roll out to older versions of Windows 10

Microsoft is rolling out cumulative updates for a couple of versions of Windows 10. These optional updates are also labeled as preview updates. They aren't required, but you can grab them now if you'd like. There are updates available for Windows 10 version 1909 and Windows 10 version 1809. The updates fix a few bugs, including an issue that prevents fonts from rendering correctly.

If your PC is running Windows 10 version 1909, you can get the KB4601380 update. It brings systems to build number 18363.1411. Here are the highlights for the update:

  • Updates an issue that sometimes prevents the input of strings into the Input Method Editor (IME).
  • Updates an issue that renders fonts incorrectly.
  • Updates an issue with screen rendering after opening games with certain hardware configurations.

If your PC is on Windows 10 version 1809, you can grab the KB4601383 update. This update brings systems to build 17763.1790. It's worth noting that Windows 10 version 1809 is generally out of support. Here are the highlights of the KB4601383 update:

  • Updates an issue that renders fonts incorrectly.
  • Updates an issue that sometimes prevents the input of strings into the Input Method Editor (IME).

These updates are available through Windows Update if you go to the "Optional updates available" area of the Settings app. You can also grab them from the Microsoft Update Catalog. There are pages for both the KB4601380 update and the KB4601383 update.
