Because iOS isn't the open playground Android is, Microsoft's mobile broadcasting app, Mixer Create, has been more limited on iPhone and iPad. To stream, games have required support to be built into the game by the developers using ReplayKit, and as such only a small selection of titles could be streamed to Mixer.
That's all about to change thanks to the built-in iOS 11 screen record feature, and folks on the Mixer Create beta are getting their first look right now.
The latest update is just pushing out through TestFlight and the changelog reads as such:
- Now supporting Screen Recording on iOS 11 to allow broadcasting of any game or app on your device
- Bug fixes
Small changelog, but a huge update that makes Mixer Create infinitely more appealing to use for mobile gaming fans. There's no timeline as to when this will hit the public build, but assuming all goes well it shouldn't be too long.
