Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 tops Red Dead Redemption 2 in October U.S. game sales

October 2018 saw some of the biggest video game releases ever. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 launched to stellar reviews, and shattered sales records across the world. While Red Dead Redemption 2 may have had the biggest global opening, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 reigned supreme in the United States. The NPD Group provided a list of the best-selling titles in October.

The NPD Group tracks video game sales across the U.S. each month. Many companies, including Microsoft, utilize its services to gain a better understanding of how much product they've sold. Apart from that, it's become somewhat of a competition among gamers. Everyone wants to know which titles did the best.

  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  2. Red Dead Redemption 2
  3. Assassin's Creed Odyssey
  4. NBA 2K19
  5. Super Mario Party
  6. Soul Calibur 6
  7. FIFA 19
  8. Marvel's Spider-Man
  9. Madden NFL 19
  10. WWE 2K19

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Madden NFL 19 don't include digital PC sales. Super Mario Party doesn't include digital sales. Super Mario Party and Madden NFL 19 may have different positions if those figures were tallied.

While it's shocking that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beat Red Dead Redemption 2, the former launched towards the beginning of the month, generating more sales. It'll be interesting to see how November stacks up. Hopefully Activision and Rockstar Games will provide sales updates. Did you buy both? Which game appeals to you? Let us know.
