What you need to know

  • Uno Platform is now an official sponsor of Launch 2021.
  • Launch 2021 is a digital event to promote and showcase new Windows and cross-platform apps.
  • The deadline to submit apps for Launch 2021 has been extended to May 24, 2021.

Windows 10 app developers have more incentive to take part in this year's Launch event run by the UWP Community. Earlier this week, Uno Platform announced that it is sponsoring Launch 2021. Uno Platform will provide prizes for the top three Windows apps and the top three cross-platform apps.

Launch is a digital event that allows developers to showcase their Windows and cross-platform apps. The apps submitted for Launch 2021 will be curated, judged, and showcased. Apps will be judged on flexibility, empathy, beauty, potential, originality, and accessibility.

Prizes for developers include a DJI Drone with 4K camera, Bose QC35 III headphones, and a Raspberry Pi 4 starter kit. Those prizes are nothing to shake a stick at. The Bose QC35 II headphones are among the best noise-canceling headphones for students.

Since the format of Launch 2021 has changed with the introduction of a sponsor, the deadline to submit apps has moved. Developers can now submit apps until May 24, 2021. Developers can work on projects until August 23, 2021. The apps will then be judged on August 30, 2021 and winners will be announced on September 1, 2021.

"We are proud to sponsor prizes for Launch this year. The competition helps strengthen the community, unlock creativity and knowledge, and enables developers to create and launch delightful apps used by hundreds of thousands," said Uno Platform CMO Sasha Krsmanovic. "We look forward to seeing all the multi-platform solutions that will be created using UWP, WinUI and Uno Platform."

Uno Platform allows developers to use C# and XAML code to create native apps on multiple platforms. With it, developers can create apps for Windows, iOS, Android, macOS, the web, and Linux. A recent update to Uno Platform 3.6 brought support for WinUI 3.
