Red Dead Online gets in-game economy tweaks, rewards existing players

Recently, Rockstar Games announced Red Dead Online's availability to the general public. Red Dead Online is a connected online experience set against the backdrop of Red Dead Redemption 2's massive open world. According to the studio, this new version is an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience found in Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Online is currently in beta and due to this has a number of issues. Aside from the world feeling somewhat barren, the multiplayer mode suffers from a bizarre in-game economy where gold watches are worth less than a can of baked beans. It seems to be balanced to encourage gold microtransactions. Luckily, Rockstar started rolling out the first fixes. The studio said, "The first set of adjustments to the game include changes specifically geared towards creating a more balanced, fun, and rewarding overall experience, across all modes and missions."

  • Increasing the cash and gold payments across a number of different activities.
  • Reducing the prices of most weapons. For players that have already purchased weapons at the previous prices, we will automatically deposit the difference to player balances starting today.
  • Balancing the values of select pelts, skins, and fish as well as horse reviver and pamphlets.
  • Rockstar is also awarding everyone that joined in to play the Red Dead Online beta at any point through midnight today with a gift of $250 and fifteen gold bars. Gifts should start arriving today.

Red Dead Redemption 2 focuses on the events after a robbery goes wrong in the town of Blackwater. Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal, and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive.

How do you like Red Dead Online? Let us know. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on October 26, 2018 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems.
