Absolver finally launches on Xbox One, runs at 4K resolution on Xbox One X

A few years ago, Devolver Digital announced Absolver for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. While the game launched on PC and PlayStation 4 a while back, it seemed like the Xbox One version had been shelved. However, that wasn't the case and recently Absolver's Twitter account confirmed that an Xbox One version was on the way.

Absolver is currently available for $29.99 on the Microsoft Store or through Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass is a monthly $9.99 subscription that gives you access to over a hundred titles at no additional cost. It's quite like Netflix where certain games rotate in and out, depending on third-party publishers. The game also features Xbox One X enhancements and supposedly runs at native 4K resolution on the system.

According to Devolver Digital, Absolver puts players behind the mask of a "Prospect," who has taken a sacred vow and chosen to join the "Absolvers," an elite group of combatants fighting to maintain stability in the world. Monitored by the "Guides," the new rulers of the fallen Adal Empire, players will wander these forsaken lands and encounter other Prospects online in order to earn their place in this world and eventually become Absolvers.

Along the way, they will learn new combat styles and attacks, and acquire better weapons, powers and armor. Battles between warriors are intense and take place in real time. Players must use various attacks, dodges, feints and counters to take out their opponents. Lastly, all aspects of gameplay are customizable, including combat styles, weapons, and even individual attack sequences.
