It was unclear when the game would be updated to take advantage of the console and if the Xbox One X patch would be delayed as a result. Today, Bethesda announced that the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro patches are going live. Aside from fixing a lot of bugs, the publisher also revealed the exact resolution both versions run at. Unsurprisingly, the Xbox One X version runs at a much higher resolution than the PlayStation 4 Pro version. WCCFtech first noticed the comparison.

On Xbox One X, the developers increased the display resolution to 1800p (3200 by 1800 pixels). They also improved framerate stability and added an option to disable the 30 FPS limit for a higher frame rate. On PlayStation 4 Pro they made similar improvements but the display resolution is 1260p (2240 by 1260 pixels). This means that the Xbox One version outputs roughly three million more pixels. This should result in a noticeably clearer and crisper image on a 4K display.

It's great to see developers taking advantage of the additional 1.8 TFLOPS available on the Xbox One X when compared to the PlayStation 4 Pro. Many gamers were concerned developers wouldn't go the extra mile due to the PlayStation 4 Pro's lead over Microsoft's upcoming console, which launches on November 7, 2017. Hopefully this trend will continue in the future.

According to Bethesda, The Evil Within 2 is the latest evolution of survival horror from acclaimed developer Shinji Mikami. This time around detective Sebastian Castellanos has lost it all. However, when given a chance to save his daughter, he descends once more into the nightmarish world of STEM. STEM is a collection of consciousness but their fears and insecurities make it into a Hellish environment. As you progress through the campaign, horrifying threats emerge from every corner as the world twists and turns around you. Be sure to check The Evil Within 2 out at retailers if you like action-horror experiences.
