Anthem footage shows off 19 minutes of tactical combat on Xbox One X

Recently, EA showcased an extended look at Anthem at E3 2018. The game is an upcoming third-person shooter along the lines of Borderlands and Destiny. Players work together to take down enemies and explore the environment. The game is being developed by BioWare but was recently pushed back to 2019 to increase its quality.

In the Anthem's world, hostile monsters rule the wilderness, and humanity has taken refuge inside a walled city known as "Fort Tarsis". Freelancers — basically bounty hunters bearing "Javelin" exoskeletons — are among the few who can venture outside these walls, forming the basis for gameplay. Diverging from the developer's narrative-driven experiences, Anthem pursues an online shared world, built with action mechanics in mind.

The E3 2018 gameplay is running on Xbox One X and features a crisp resolution at 30 FPS. The developer should give players a 1080p 60 FPS option when the title launches early next year. While we've seen the characters before, the massive structure in one of the scenes is a mystery. It looks like it might be a remnant of a forgotten civilization and plays an important role in the story.

Hopefully Anthem will be a polished experience when it launches on Xbox One next year. EA said that the game is being developed with the Xbox One X in mind so it should push boundaries when it comes to visuals and technology. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more about the project.
