Forza Motorsport 7 June update is all about race regulations

What you need to know

  • June update now available.
  • Podium positions and subsequent grid positions affected.
  • Bug that could DNF entire lobby fixed.

The regular monthly update to Forza Motorsport 7 is now available to all, and while it's a fairly small one, it still contains a bunch of important upgrades to the Forza Race Regulations system. As the future of competitive multiplayer, the Race Regulations system is constantly being tweaked and Turn 10 has taken other step forward this month.

Top of the list are improvements to how podium and grid positions are decided on.

With the June update, players' positions on the podium will be based on total time including any penalties earned during the race. In addition, players' starting grid position for the subsequent race will now take into consideration their total time, including any penalties earned during the previous race.

The system will now also keep tabs on how many corners a player cuts in a row and report this accordingly with regards to penalties. There's also a pretty important bug fix, whereby an entire lobby could be DNF if one player cut the track excessively.

One neat new feature, and one important for the future of esports on Forza 7, is the addition of a spectator mode for Race Regulations lobbies, including the public beta hopper. It's also handy to drop in if you want to check it out before jumping on track yourself.

The full patch notes are available on the Forza Blog, and the update is rolling out now on both Xbox One and Windows 10, so go get it.
