- The new Microsoft Edge is now rolling out automatically via Windows Update for Release Preview Insiders.
- This is the first step in a process that will see the old Edge replaced for everyone.
- Release Preview Insiders can grab the new Edge via Windows Update now.
Microsoft today started the automatic rollout for the new Microsoft Edge with Windows Insiders enrolled in the Release Preview ring. The new browser will gradually roll out to everyone in the Release Preview ring over the coming weeks and months. This will replace the legacy Microsoft Edge browser once it is installed.

This is the beginning of a process that will see Microsoft eventually replace the legacy Edge with the new Chromium-based Edge for everyone. Once testing is done in the Release Preview ring, the new Edge will see a similar automatic rollout to everyone via Windows Update.
Microsoft officially launched the new Microsoft Edge on January 15, initially for Windows 10, 7, 8 and MacOS. Microsoft recently added native ARM64 support as well, allowing Edge to run faster and with more efficient power consumption on ARM-based PCs like the Surface Pro X.
