First revealed during the Xbox E3 2019 showcase, Microsoft Flight Simulator is a reboot of the classic flight simulator games that Microsoft put out years ago. Being developed by Xbox Game Studios in partnership with Asobo Studio, the developers of A Plague Tale: Innocence, this game uses 2 petabytes of geodata to generate the world below and the skies above. Yes, you read that right!
Ahead of its release, Microsoft will be working closely with the community on multiple Insider tests, providing updates on builds of the game and holding a technical alpha. The Insider program has officially kicked off, with internal testing beginning this month. After providing some various media updates through the rest of August, the next big stop is in late September, when different features will be highlighted. In September, we'll also learn what the plans are for November and possibly beyond.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently scheduled to release sometime in 2020 on Xbox One and PC. As with all Xbox Game Studios titled, it will be included in Xbox Game Pass.
