Fallout 76 B.E.T.A now available to preload on Xbox One

As Fallout 76 prepares to kick off its first beta test session next week, those planning to participate on Xbox One can now get a jump on things by preloading the game. If you preordered Fallout 76 already, that means you can make sure your console is ready to go when the "B.E.T.A" test kicks off on October 23.

The beta test is designed to stress test Bethesda's servers in the run-up to Fallout 76's launch, so be prepared to hit some potential snags during the test session. However, the benefit is this will allow Bethesda to catch any major issues and correct them ahead of further test sessions and, ultimately, the final release.

Preordering Fallout 76 is the only way to get access to any of the beta test sessions. If you've already pulled the trigger on a purchase, you'll need to redeem your beta code with a Bethesda account to participate in the test.

Fallout 76 represents quite a departure form the franchise's roots. While it'll still feature heavy role-playing elements that are a mainstay for the series, Fallout 76 expands the experience from its solo roots to a vast multiplayer journey. Players can team up to tackle quests, build settlements, and engage in some light player-versus-player combat. And while the game requires an online connection, you can still play it alone if you want.

Fallout 76 is expected to launch on November 14, and it's available to preorder now for $59.99.
