For all of you following Windows Central, we've been obsessed with a game called Hunt: Showdown for quite some time now. It's a first-person shooter where you take on bounties and hunt gruesome monsters. It launched on Xbox Game Preview many months ago, but it was in a broken and terrible state.
A few months ago, the developer, Crytek, announced that it was bringing the 1.0 version to Xbox One in August. However, the release was pushed back to September to polish up the experience, and add long-awaited Xbox One X support. Well, you'll be happy to know that the patch has finally arrived and it's glorious. Not only does the game get a substantial resolution boost on Xbox One X, but it also runs better. Xbox One X players can expect 1800p resolution as well as better texture filtering, a larger texture pool, a higher quality water shader, and improved shadow quality and anti-aliasing.
If you didn't get the game in Xbox Game Preview, you can do so now for $40. There's a $45 bundle available which comes with the Legends of the Bayou downloadable content (DLC). This DLC gives players access to two legendary characters and two unique weapons. Those who already own the game can purchase the DLC alone for $10.
Set in Louisiana in 1895, the game boasts a mixture of player vs. player and player vs. enemy elements that create a uniquely tense experience. It's not just the monstrous targets that are a threat — it's every other hunter on the map. For example, in the classic game mode, a match of Hunt pits 10 players — you can form teams — against each other as they race to take out terrifying beasts for a bounty they must collect and get off of the map.
