What you need to know

  • Minecraft Dungeons is a loot-focused co-op ARPG from Mojang Studios, the creators of Minecraft.
  • It's available on every current-gen platform, and will be debuting on Xbox's Xbox Cloud Gaming day one, September 15.
  • Today, it was announced that Minecraft Dungeons will also implement fully integrated touch controls for the cloud streaming version.
  • Players will be able to use their hands to play the game, with fine-tuned controls that can be customized to the players' needs.

Minecraft Dungeons is already a killer game, especially with the addition of the Creeping Winter DLC, and it's available on Xbox, Playstation, Switch, and PC platforms in equal measure. While cross-play still isn't here to connect the different platforms together, Minecraft Dungeons is joining lots of other games on September 15 in joining Project xCloud in its official release into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and its transition to Xbox Cloud Gaming. Even better, Minecraft Dungeons will implement unique touch controls to allow players to jump into the game without a controller.

The controls for Minecraft Dungeons have been carefully designed to feel as natural as possible on a mobile device, and can even be customized in layout and size to fit the individual player. This makes Minecraft Dungeons one of the first games to use touch controls, and it's one of the better suited games to make the transition. And players don't have to worry about leaving left behind when cross-play is finally added to the game; since Minecraft Dungeons on Xbox Cloud Gaming is just the Xbox version of the game, cross-play will work perfectly even with touch controls enabled.

Minecraft Dungeons will add its touch controls alongside the public release of Xbox Cloud Gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, alongside over 150 other titles, and will work great even with one of these fantastic budget phones. More games will join Minecraft Dungeons in dropping the need for a controller as well, so it won't be long before our phones truly become a gaming powerhouse, no matter where we are.
