Acer's new TravelMate X514-51 is an ultra-portable laptop for professionals

Acer today revealed its new TravelMate X514-51, an ultra-portable laptop intended to appeal to traveling professionals. The 14-inch laptop comes in at 0.6-inches thick and weighs in at 2.16 pounds, but it still manages to pack in a fair amount of power.

On the inside of the TravelMate X514-51, you'll find up to 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processors, up to 512GB of SSD storage, and up to 16GB of RAM. Acer claims you'll be able to achieve up to 10 hours of battery life with the TravelMate, but as is always the case, real-world figures will likely differ.

The TravelMate's exterior is made up of a magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis, which Acer claims is up to 35 percent stronger than standard aluminum alloys while weighing less. You'll also find a backlit keyboard on board, along with a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello. Rounding things out is a 720p webcam sitting above the 1080p display.

Acer says the TravelMate X514-51 is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in June with prices starting at $1,100. The company is also throwing in a one-year international traveler's warranty.
