What you need to know

  • Project xCloud is Microsoft's cloud game streaming service.
  • It's currently in public preview on Android and iOS.
  • A Windows 10 app is in the works and recently leaked.
  • The Verge was able to get screenshots of it in action.

Today, The Verge managed to get a hold of screenshots of the Project xCloud game streaming app for Windows 10 PCs. It looks almost identical to the Android experience and even has similar loading animations. You can take a look at some of the main screenshots The Verge was able to get its hands on.

The outlet said the following about the program.

Microsoft has started testing its Project xCloud game streaming service for Windows 10... this week. The software giant is making the preview version available to all Microsoft employees, and The Verge has been able to obtain exclusive screenshots... The app requires a Bluetooth Xbox One controller, a Microsoft account, and a good internet connection. The PC app will also support streaming games from an Xbox One console locally or remotely... There are a variety of games available to Microsoft employees to test, but the app is currently limited to 720p streams for now... with 1080p just around the corner... Microsoft is now working to eventually transition these xCloud servers to the Xbox Series X processor. This... processor is far more powerful and capable of running four Xbox One S game sessions simultaneously on a single chip.

It'll be interesting what new features the Xbox Series X upgrade brings to Project xCloud. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more about when it'll be available for public testing.
