Call of Cthulhu finally gets proper gameplay footage from E3 2018

Call of Cthulhu is a game inspired by Chaosium's classic pen and paper adventure. At E3 2018, the developer shared proper footage which gives us a better look at this dark role-playing game. According to Cyanide Studio, players uncover chilling mysteries, descending deep into a world of cosmic horrors, creeping madness, and shrouded "Old Gods" within Lovecraft's iconic universe. The gameplay is reminiscent of titles like Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter.

The plot follows Private Investigator Edward Pierce as he is sent to evaluate the tragic death of the Hawkins family in their mansion. Everyone has been slaughtered! The mansion is located on the dangerous Darkwater Island, just off the coast of Boston. Between unhelpful locals and questionable police reports, it becomes clear that there's more to the case than what's being let on by everyone. The trail leads Pierce to a terrifying world of conspiracies and supernatural threats.

In this world, nothing is as it seems. Strange monsters, fringe science, and shadowy cults dominate the Cthulhu universe. These individuals are intent on realizing their bizarre schemes to bring about the end of days. The developer said that your mind will suffer, balancing a line between sanity and madness. You can't trust anyone because you can't let Cthulhu awaken from his eternal dream to wreck havoc on humanity. It's up to you to stop it.

Call of Cthulhu is currently available for preorder on Xbox One for $59.99. The game was scheduled to launch in 2017 but was pushed back to this year. Hopefully the team will provide a release date soon because the title looks challenging and enigmatic.
