Overwatch will get 'Workshop' on PC and consoles, allows you to create custom modes

Over the past few years, Overwatch has recieved aggressive post-launch support from Blizzard Entertainment. Despite the fact that games like Apex Legends and Fortnite have slowly chipped away at its user base, the title remains one of the most-watched games on Twitch and other streaming platforms.

Many thought that Blizzard would only add new characters and maps in future content, but it seems like the developer wants to radically alter the game. Today, it announced that "players, modders, and game developers can now create games in ways previously unimaginable" with a new Overwatch featured called the "Workshop."

The description states that within the Workshop, players can create a Script to add Rules and unique play Conditions on top of the established game modes. Rules can change how a hero's movement and abilities work, modify how players take damaged or are healed, or even display text under certain circumstances.

  • Create your own scripts for customized game modes in Overwatch.
  • Share your own game mode without navigating through menus in game.
  • Debug issues with their scripts using the Workshop Inspector.
  • Molten Floor requires players to stay off the floor.
  • Mirrored Deathmatch rotates heroes every minute.

The Workshop is coming PC and consoles. If you take part in the Public Test Realm on PC, you can access it right now.
