Does AMD Rage Mode void your warranty?

Best answer: No, AMD Rage Mode does not void warranty. While AMD has said that overclocking AMD processors even with the official software will void the warranty, Rage Mode is just a fan and power tuning preset and does not increase the GPU's clock speeds. AMD has clarified that it is not an overclocking setting and thus does not void the warranty.Best choice with AMD Rage Mode support: XFX AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB GDDR6 ($650 at Best Buy)Flagship GPU with AMD Rage Mode support: MSI AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16G ($1000 at Best Buy)

Using AMD Rage Mode

AMD Rage Mode is a performance tuning preset for Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT. Rage Mode isn't an overclocking preset. Rather, it increases the graphics card's power and fan levels to make use of any headroom that the card has. This helps the GPU stay at the boost clock speed for longer. Rage Mode performance boost depends on how well the card's power and cooling systems are configured so that the performance boost will vary for different AIB models.

AMD Rage Mode is found in the Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition software. It's one of the three presets available, in addition to "Balanced" and "Quiet." You need to have the Radeon RX 6800 XT or the Radeon RX 6900 XT and have Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition installed to use Rage mode. You will also need the latest AMD Radeon drivers for your GPU. You can activate Rage Mode from the "Tuning" section under the "Performance" tab in the Radeon Software.

AMD Rage Mode warranty concerns

AMD Rage Mode warranty concerns actually popped up because of AMD's mixed messaging around Rage Mode. During the Radeon RX 6000 series GPU launch event, AMD referred to Rage Mode as one-click overclocking. In addition to that, there was a warning at the end of the event presentation which stated that overclocking AMD processors will void the warranty, even if done via official software. This raised concerns about Rage Mode voiding the warranty of AMD GPUs.

However, since AMD Rage Mode is simply a performance tune that alters the power and fan levels, there is no actual overclocking going on. AMD has also cleared the confusion surrounding this issue and said that performance presets, including Rage Mode, will absolutely not void your graphics card's warranty.
