If you play GTA Online, developer Rockstar is offering up the chance to kill two birds with one stone. A new gun, the Double Action Revolver, is now available as an unlock in GTA Online, but players can also unlock it for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 ahead of its release.
Starting today, Rockstar says, players will receive an email in GTA Online that will hint at how to unlock the Double Action Revolver. But while following the clue in the in-game email will unlock the gun for GTA Online, players will have to do a little extra legwork to unlock it for Red Dead Redemption 2.
Keep your iFruit handy for a special in-game email containing the first clue, then follow the trail to unlock the Double Action Revolver in GTA Online. Once you acquire your gratis Double Action Revolver, complete the Headshot Challenge in Freemode for a GTA$250,000 reward and unlock it for future gun-slinging exploits in Red Dead Redemption 2.
It's a pretty nice tie-in for Rockstar fans who are planning to make the jump from Grand Theft Auto V to Red Dead Redemption 2 when it launches at some point in spring of 2018.
Other than a handful of screenshots and a couple of trailers, we haven't yet seen much of the much-anticipated follow-up to the original Red Dead Redemption. However, as the hype builds in the new year, we should learn much more ahead of the game's spring launch.
