Team Ninja unveils 'Dead or Alive 6' with brutal fighting trailer

Dead or Alive is a staple fighting franchise by Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja. Just like Tekken and other such games, the series focuses on fast-paced combat in tight arenas. The original Dead or Alive launched in 1996 and has since then garnered a significant fan following. Unlike other games, these titles are mostly known for their female characters and their attire. The popularity of the franchise has led to the creation of spin-offs like Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball which, oddly enough, was an original Xbox exclusive.

Today, the companies announced Dead or Alive 6. IGN got its hands on the reveal trailer which gives you a first look at the next-generation Dead or Alive crew as both old favorites and new characters get ready for battle. Can you spot some of the popular ones? Maybe some fighters from Ninja Gaiden?

Dead or Alive 6 features a new combo system called "Fatal Rush". This mechanic simplifies the moves so beginners can easily perform complex maneuvers. Apart from that, the "Break Gauge" is a super move bar. As expected, it slowly charges as you keep on striking your opponent. Once the Break Gauge is charged, you can either perform a "Break Blow" or "Break Hold". The Break Blow is a devastating attack while the Break Blow improves your defenses.

Hopefully Dead or Alive 6 will be a polished experience when it launches in early 2019 for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more about the title or receive a character roster.
