Fitbit Coach app brings guided workouts to Xbox One and Windows 10

Microsoft may have pulled the plug on Xbox Fitness, but Fitbit is now looking to fill the fitness gap on Xbox One and Windows 10. The company has announced the launch of the Fitbit Coach app for Microsoft's console and Windows 10 PC and Mobile, bringing guided workouts to your living room, office, or on the go.

Fitbit Coach was already available as a mobile app for Android and iOS, and the version for Xbox One and Windows 10 provides largely the same experience. With it, you can take advantage of video workouts with step-by-step instructions, customizable music, recommended workouts based on your daily activity, and more. Interestingly, a Fitbit device isn't required to get started, but you'll only be able to use certain features if you have one. One additional perk for Xbox users is that, if you do have a Fitbit device (like the Fitbit Ionic), you can track your heart rate in real time on your TV as you work out, Fitbit says.

The Fitbit Coach app is currently listed on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One and Windows 10, but isn't available just yet. The download should become available soon, however. You can use the app in a limited capacity for free, with access to one personalized program and some extra audio and video workouts. However, you'll have to step up to a Fitbit Coach Premium subscription for $39.99 per year in order to "unlock more programs, unlimited workout, and additional features," Fitbit says.
