Corsair's crazy fast PCIe 4.0 Force SSD now available starting at $250

What you need to know

  • Corsair has launched its first PCIe 4.0 SSD.
  • The Corsair Force MP600 is available in 1TB and 2TB sizes, with prices starting at $250.
  • The drive sports blazing read and write speeds of 4,950 MB/s and 4,250 MB/s, respectively.

If you have the need for speed, Corsair's new PCIe 4.0 Force MP600 SSD is now on sale starting at $250. For that starting price, you can snag the speedy SSD in a 1TB storage capacity, but a 2TB option is also available for a hefty $450.

The new PCIe 4.0 standard enables PC components to take advantage of incredibly fast speeds. Solid State Drives like the Corsair Force and the recently launched AORUS model are some of the first components to take advantage of these speed improvements, but we also expect to see future GPUs tap into them.

The Corsair Force MP600 is rated to achieve read speeds of 4,950MB/s and a write speed of 4,250MB/s. To put that in perspective, one of the fastest consumer PCIe 3.0 SSDs out there, the Samsung 970 EVO sports read and write speeds of 3,500 MB/s and 2,500 MB/s, respectively. Of course, Samsung's PCIe 3.0 SSD currently only costs $170 for the 1TB model.

To take advantage of those speeds, however, you'll need to get your hands on a PCIe 4.0-enabled motherboard and CPU, which are currently only available with AMD's new 3rd Gen Ryzen 3000 Series, which launched this week.

Portable (and affordable) power accessories we love

Each and every one of these charging gadgets will keep your favorite gear and gadgets going for longer, and none of them costs more than $30.

This compact dual-output powerbank can speedily recharge any and all your devices, thanks to a two-amp "fast charge feature," using its micro-USB out port. Its simple design includes an LED indicator, and it costs about as much as a single ticket to the movies.

Panasonic eneloop AA batteries (From $13 at Dell)

Panasonic's rechargeable batteries are among the best available, and just a couple of them will keep your favorite remote, mice or other peripherals powered up when you need them. They're also eco. And the company's affordable charger fits and charges both AA and AAA batteries at the same time.
