Halo TV show similar in 'scope and scale' to Game of Thrones says 343 Industries' Kiki Wolfkill

What you need to know

  • The Halo TV show is still in development at Showtime.
  • 343 Industries transmedia head Kiki Wolfkill compared it to Game of Thrones.
  • It should be similar in terms of scale and scope.

Microsoft and Showtime have been working a Halo TV show for quite some time now. While we haven't heard much about the project aside from casting rumors, there have been plenty of comments from 343 Industries' developers about the scope of the project.

According to a report by GamesRadar+, the studio's transmedia head Kiki Wolfkill compared it to Game of Thrones. This information was revealed in The Game Maker's Notebook podcast and was first reported by GameSpot. She said the following.

It's hard to find an analog. We talk about Game of Thrones a lot in terms of scope and scale and complexity of relationships. A lot of the background of Halo is this sort of political drama. It's something that is mentioned really lightly in the games... Some of that Game of Thrones complexity is interesting.

Hopefully the Halo TV show will stand up to the HBO series in terms of quality. That's a tall order, and Microsoft and Showtime have their work cut out for them. Only time will tell if the ambitious project will be a critically-acclaimed success.
