BioWare delays new Anthem content like 'Cataclysms' to fix bugs

Yesterday, BioWare dropped a new Anthem patch which added a recycled stronghold and fixed a number of bugs. The new content wasn't received well by gamers, but there was hope that the "Cataclysm" would help the game stand out. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem like it's going to happen anytime soon.

Alongside the patch notes, the studio revealed that "we are not going to hit all the goals on our Act 1 Calendar." BioWare is prioritizing bug fixes, stability, and game flow over the new features of Act 1. You can read a list of the delayed features below.

  • Mastery System
  • Guilds
  • Legendary Missions: Phase II
  • Weekly Stronghold Challenge
  • Leaderboards
  • Certain Freeplay Events
  • Cataclysm

It's unclear when these features will make their way to the game, but it may take months. Even after all this time, Anthem suffers from a number of problems — related to performance and gameplay — and it doesn't look like they're going to be rectified anytime soon. It's a shame that a lot of promising multiplayer experiences like Anthem and Fallout 76 have failed to live up to expectations recently.

What are your thoughts on this? The fact that the Cataclysm has been delayed doesn't bode well for the experience. A lot of gamers may move onto other titles in the coming weeks.
